CASPCA Achieves 96% Live Release Rate in 2023, Maintaining “No-Kill” Status

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (June 13, 2024) — The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA maintained no-kill status in 2023, according to Best Friends Animal Society’s annual data report. Shelters receiving Best Friends’ “no-kill” recognition saved more than 90% of the dogs and cats in their care in the calendar year 2023 – CASPCA proudly achieved a 96% live release rate in 2023, far exceeding this standard.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (May 1, 2024)—BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is prompting a national call for adoption once again this spring with its “Empty the Shelters” reduced-fee adoption event May 1 – 15. The Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA will participate along with more than 410 shelters in 43 states.
