In order to serve our community, encourage pet retention, and increase equitable access to the health benefits of pet ownership, the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA offers Compassionate Care Clinics on-site on select weekdays each month. These clinics provide wellness exams, education, vaccinations and routine wellness care at a reduced cost for pet parents currently receiving public assistance.

Clients must be residents of Albemarle County or Charlottesville City and show proof of public assistance to qualify for care.*

Procedure for Clients:

• Drive to the right of the shelter and follow signs for clinic parking.

• Please remain in your vehicle. A clinic assistant will come to your car to check you in.

• After checking in, you will wait in your vehicle and your pet(s) will be brought into the clinic by a clinic assistant.

• Physical examinations, diagnostics, and treatment will take place in the clinic while you wait outside.

• A staff member will then talk with you carside to discuss findings, answer questions, and receive the estimate.

• Cash, check and credit card are accepted payment methods. We are unable to accept CareCredit at this time.

• After you have paid, you will be given medical records and medications in a bag prepared by the evaluation and treatment team.

*All cats, kittens, and puppies must be brought in an enclosed pet carrier.*
