Want to help shelter pets and improve reading skills?

Sign up for the SPCA reading program, Wags and Words! Through our Wags and Words program, children visit the SPCA and read to animals in the shelter. Reading aloud can greatly improve a child’s confidence, and animals make the perfect judgment-free audience. Dogs and cats mutually benefit through reduced stress levels and individualized attention.

Wags and Words is held on Saturdays once a month from 10AM-11AM. Kids may bring their favorite book or choose one of the SPCA’s books. Sessions consist of ten children in addition to their chaperones. Groups interested in participating can contact [email protected] to reserve a Saturday.
