SPCA Announces Critter Ball Dancer Line-up for
2012 Boot Scootin’ Boogie Celebrity Dance Competition
Charlottesville, Virginia: On Saturday, October 6th, six Charlottesville celebrities will do their best Boot Scootin’ Boogie under a Neon Moon in search of dollar donation votes to support the animals at the SPCA for the annual Critter Ball! These local celebrities, paired with professional dancers, are currently hard at work practicing and purrfecting their dance routines for the much anticipated Celebrity Dance Competition and raising funds in an effort to help the animals.
This year’s event celebrates an amazing six years as a No Kill Community. Over the last six years, with the community’s support, the SPCA has:
• Found homes for more than 23,000 animals;
• Spayed/Neutered more than 34,000 animals;
• Provided life-saving medical care for more than 15,000 animals;
• Reunited more than 4,500 lost animals with their owners, and
• Maintained a 90% community-wide save rate.
This incredible community achievement will be celebrated at Slaughter Gym on the UVa grounds on Saturday, October 6th at 6:30 PM. This venue will be transformed into a southwestern landscape, complete with an old west saloon and tumbleweeds. Attendees are invited to don their best Southwestern, Latin or Country/Western attire to join us for what promises to be a rootin’ tootin’ good time complete with cocktails, live/silent auctions, dinner, dancing and the Boot Scootin’ Boogie Celebrity Dance Competition!
This year’s celebrity contestants who are competing for the community’s donation votes and the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy include:
* Actress, Albemarle High School Teacher and cat lover, Meghan Crider;
* Arts Advocate, rescue dog owner and Executive Director of Live Arts Matt Joslyn;
* Family CFO, mother of two, and passionate animal lover Julie Bonistalli;
* Charlottesville native and owner of Beer Run, Josh Hunt;
* And, amateur couple, local chiropractor & President of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Cortland Neuhoff and Leslie Bowman.
SPCA reminds supporters that if you cannot attend the event, you can still support the SPCA by going to the event website: www.SPCACritterBall.com, and voting for your favorite Charlottesville dancer and their animal mascot. You can also follow all of the pre-event fun on facebook at www.facebook.com/spcacitterball.com. All of the dancers are asking the community for their help and support for the life-saving mission of the SPCA.
