Visits & Tours
Humane Education teaches the principles of respect for all forms of life. Our SPCA believes that encouraging the spirit of kindness toward animals can be the starting point for the development of a larger humanity which treats all living things with compassion.
The SPCA currently offers educational presentations for school grade levels – kindergarten through high school. Presentations are age appropriate, include hands-on materials, usually last from 30-60 minutes and can be scheduled out in the classroom or in conjunction with a field trip to the SPCA facility. Just a few examples of topics are: overpopulation, safety first, responsible care, and respect for all life issues.
Others such as community youth organizations, church groups, scouts, services groups, etc. can take advantage of our programs by scheduling a visit to the SPCA facility at 3355 Berkmar Drive. These include a tour of the facility with all our resident critters on view. A fun-filled information packed presentation in our Education/Training Room concludes the tour.
We ask that groups who take advantage of our humane education programs do a wish ist drive with the participating children or organization. This allows the children to learn about the gift of giving to animals in need.
