The Twelve Saves of Christmas

We hope you have enjoyed the stories we have selected for the 12 Saves of Christmas, about a few of the animals saved by the CASPCA this year. These 12 represent only a small fraction of the thousands of animals we provide lifesaving care to and save each year.  These stories all have a happy ending because of the tireless efforts of our staff and the generosity of supporters like you!

Thank you from Rollie!

Update: Rollie wants to thank all of her new friends and supporters for contributing the $4000 needed for her surgery!

My name is Rollie and I am a one-year-old German Shepherd mix. I have had a very hard life thus far! I was displaced in Houston after Hurricane Harvey and lived for a while in an arena with a lot of other animals. Some very nice people with Best Friends Animal Society transferred me and a group of dogs, who all really needed a lot of medical attention, to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA. Since arriving, I have been undergoing treatments for skin infections and heartworms.

The CASPCA veterinary staff noted that I have trouble walking like other dogs. After examining my X-rays, it was determined that my left hip is very abnormal, most likely due to a traumatic injury. It is painful for me to walk and difficult for me to stand normally. I desperately need corrective hip surgery! Until I have this surgery, I am resting, taking pain medication, and receiving lots of love from the wonderful staff at the CASPCA. It is my Christmas wish to be able to walk, run, and play like other pups!

Help Rollie Receive the Corrective Hip Surgery She Needs!

Critter Ball Photographs

The 2017 Critter Ball took place on September 21st at Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards and was a great success.  Guests mingled with adoptable dogs during cocktail hour against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Party guests also enjoyed a wonderful dinner, live auction and entertainment by Kustom Made.

Thanks to our generous supporters and donors, including our top level sponsors: BMW of Charlottesville, Becky and Jim Craig, Red Light Management, Virginia National Bank and Anonymous.  To view photos from the event captured by Aaron Watson Photography, click here.
