Before my time at the CASPCA, I was suffering from a life-threatening uterine infection at Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services & Specialty (VETSS), in need of an expensive surgery, and was going to be euthanized. I was very sick and experiencing a lot of discomfort. A kind person at the emergency vet clinic offered to bring me to the CASPCA to see if they could save my life.
When I arrived at the CASPCA clinic, I felt terribly weak and was very quiet. My uterus was so swollen that I looked pregnant, and I was vomiting a lot. Dr. Anna Sims determined that I indeed had pyometra, and that I would need an operation to remove my uterus immediately.
This type of surgery can have severe complications, and can cost up to $2,000. Luckily, I was a very good patient, and the operation went smoothly. I was placed in critical care overnight and was closely monitored.
By the next morning, I was ready to eat some food and go on a short walk – very good signs! Within a month, I had recovered from surgery and even found my new forever home! Had it not been for the CASPCA, I would have died.
Now I live the good life of long walks and comfy beds with my new family.
This holiday season, please think of the thousands of animals we have saved and the thousands more we have yet to save.
